I'm Kay Mackenzie,
a quilter and designer in Santa Cruz, California. I caught the quilt pox about fourteen years ago when we lived in central Ohio.

Appliqué is my favorite kind of quilting project. I use three forms of appliqué: freezer paper templates, back-basting, and raw-edge machine appliqué.

I also enjoys using Adobe Illustrator®, a computer illustration program that is perfect for creating original appliqué designs.

Now I combine my love for quilting with my writing and illustrating skills in Quilt Puppy Publications & Designs.

I have a blog at kaymackenzie.com, showing off projects that other quilters have made using my designs, and showing you things I've made that don't appear in my books.

My husband Dana and I live with three cats and one dog (the real quilt puppy) in Santa Cruz, on the Pacific coast partway between San Francisco and Monterey.
