I'm Kay Mackenzie, a quilter, designer, and author in Santa Cruz, California. I caught the quilt pox about 19 years ago when we lived in central Ohio.

Appliqué is my favorite kind of quilting project.
I use three forms of appliqué: freezer paper templates, back-basting, and raw-edge machine appliqué.

I also enjoy using Adobe Illustrator, a computer illustration program that is perfect for creating original appliqué designs.

Now I combine my love for quilting with my writing and illustrating skills in my design company, By Kay Mackenzie. It allows me to combine my abiding interests in life: quilting, writing, and digital illustration... with a little dash of dogs thrown in!

	Quilt Puppy Publications is a publishing imprint.
	I also publish with Martingale & Company / That Patchwork Place.

My husband Dana and I live with Willie the papillon (the real quilt puppy) in Santa Cruz, on the Pacific coast partway between San Francisco and Monterey.
